A Place for Nature, a Home for All: Together for San Leonard

“Turning a Dream into Reality: The San Leonard Park Project”

Let’s built together a home for all.

A few years ago, in the midst of the Covid-19 emergency, we came together to create the San Leonardo Park Association, inspired by a dream: to transform the Stagno Vecchio area into a vibrant green oasis. Our vision is to establish a space that is not only inclusive and welcoming but also equipped for outdoor sports and activities, bringing nature and community together.

Our foundation is strong, with the perfect ingredients to make this dream come true:

– Deep historical roots: The San Leonardo area dates back to the 12th century, once a significant hub connected to the ancient Porto Pisano. Its rich history provides a unique backdrop to our vision.

– Vast spaces and abandoned structures: The peripheral location and neglected buildings offer a prime opportunity for regeneration into a green sanctuary—one that holds even greater importance as it stands close to significant industrial sites.

– Expertise and passion: At the heart of the association are two historical institutions:- The Canoa Club Livorno, a celebrated club with an impressive track record that includes two World Championship titles and 14 medals (bronze and silver) at World and European Championships. Beyond competition, the club has a strong social mission, offering courses for women recovering from breast cancer through the “Bimbe in Rosa” initiative (part of the international “Pink Lady” network), as well as programs for individuals with disabilities and schoolchildren.

– The Circolo ACLI Stagno, with over 70 years of history, serves as a true pillar of the community, fostering connection and growth for generations.

Our Purpose: Building the Heart of San Leonardo Park and a home for all.

Our ultimate goal is to acquire one of the oldest farmhouses in the area, located at the entrance of the park. Once purchased, this historic property will be lovingly restored and transformed into a home for the associations. It will host the canoe storage, changing rooms, essential facilities, and a welcoming reception point for visitors.

“Together for Nature and Community”

This is more than a project—it’s a chance to create a lasting legacy for both the environment and the people who call it home. With your support, we can bring this vision to life, step by step. Join us in building a future where nature, history, and community come together in harmony.
